Bad Day? Visit an Animal Sanctuary

The Animal Place - Grass Valley, CA

In the same way that emotional support animals like dogs and cats have been proven to relax the stress response and promote calm, all animals harness the ability to make us feel love and a connection to nature. But few of us in modern society devote time to forming bonds with animals outside of household pets. We know how good it feels, so Good Health Vibes recently visited our beautiful local farm animal sanctuary.

Just outside of Grass Valley, California, Animal Place is a safe haven to cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens and bunnies, who roam the sanctuary’s 600 acres of pasture, far from the industrialized feedlots that would normally confine them. Thanks to kind hearted volunteers, Animal Place continues to ensure their furry residents live happy, healthy, and stress-free lives since their opening in 1989!

Animal Place sources its rescues from small and large farms, slaughterhouses, research facilities, and neglect or cruelty cases and works to provide all newcomers a refuge where their needs are met and their individual quirks loved and respected.

In addition to providing sanctuary for farmed animals, Animal Place serves as an education and advocacy center. They offer on-site tours, cooking classes and workshops as well as volunteer and internship opportunities.

Factory farming takes the lives of 10 billion land animals each year in the United States, which is why animal lovers everywhere are boycotting their cruel practices by adopting a vegan lifestyle.

Animal sanctuaries are wonderful ways to interact with and teach young children about animals, while respecting their natural behaviors and right to freedom. You can find one close to you that will sure to bring more joy into your life by visiting https://www.vegan.com/sanctuaries/. Visits, donations and volunteers are graciously welcomed!
